The Alternative to Cary's "Sameness"

MORRISVILLE, NC - The Raleigh
News & Observer recently published an article on the problems of suburban neighborhood "sameness" in Cary, North Carolina, a Wake County town just a few miles from Kitts Creek. The article describes Cary residents' widespread frustrations over being unable to easily distinguish their own home from the rest of the houses on the block, because they all look the same. To alleviate this identity crisis for area homeowners, town planners are proposing "anti-monotony" regulations with the aim of legislating some measure of interest and variety into Cary neighborhoods.
Of course, Kitts Creek doesn't need any building codes or town ordinances to enforce architectural diversity - it's already a fundamental part of our philosophy. There are 20 distinctive architectural styles here in our community, with a minimum of five different styles available for each plan, resulting in our dynamically varied streetscapes where every home has its own unique character.
The article appears below, and we proudly believe it lends perspective to what a welcome refuge Kitts Creek represents for those looking to escape the surrounding area's cookie-cutter communities.
